Most recently, during the COVID-19 pandemic, as the principal investigator on the study, Dr. Lemieux worked to develop an antiviral drug against coronavirus disease. In this interview, Dr. Lemieux speaks on her discovery of antiviral protease agents that interfere with SARS-CoV-2, the chemical design process of drug development, and her perspective on the future of antiviral pills.
