Nicole Chu from the University of Ottawa interviews Dr. Edana Cassol from Carleton University. Dr. Edana Cassol is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at Carleton University. She is also the Co-Director of the newly established Tissue Engineering and Applied Materials (TEAM) Hub. Her research team investigates the role of cellular metabolism in regulating macrophage function in response bacteria and viruses, and how these processes different across diverse tissue microenvironments. In this episode, Dr. Cassol shares with us more about the ongoing projects in her laboratory and highlights the interactions between infectious diseases and our body's immune system.
